A quality antique piece with real history to it, this 18th century Regence rosewood commode, or chest of drawers, has veneer patterns on all visible sides and a pink, grey and white veined marble top. There are two short over two long drawers and the front has a serpentine shape. This dates to circa 1730 and has a lovely quarter pattern on the drawer fronts and half panels on the sides. It has ornate ormolu brass draw furniture and decorative fittings. There are locks present, although no key.
This is a lovely antique piece with a past which will grace any country house entrance or living room, providing good drawer space and an attractive display surface.
This is in good age-related condition. The marble top has some small nibbles along the edges and an aged small crack on the top at the front right side. There are some cracks in the drawer bottom planking, but these are not severe, and there has been a repaired section with a wedge of new wood in the bottom drawer. The decorative brass furniture appears to be of the period, although there seem to have been some alterations to these over the item’s history.
This piece dates to circa 1730 and is made of rosewood with a marble top. It originates from France.
