This beautiful 18th century chest of drawers has a wonderful, light honey colour which probably results in part from exposure to sunshine, making it ideal to fit into the modern home where lighter colours are preferred, but still providing the quality of mahogany. The corners are chamfered and have a lovely carved decoration extending from top to base. The four drawers are graduated in size, providing good storage for any bedroom, but the piece is relatively low and will not overwhelm a room with its height.
Dating to circa 1780, this is made of mahogany and originates from England.
In good age related condition, there is a small dark mark across the top right corner of the second drawer. Otherwise, the piece has less obvious wear than might be expected for a chest which has been in use for nearly 250 years. No key is available, although locks are present.
