A wonderful quality piece, this heavy oak sarcophagus cellarette has the original lead lining, which is partitioned into 5 sections at the back and 3 larger towards the front. Externally it has a panelled front and sides, with decorative roundels at each corner, and sits on brass castors which make it easy to move around. The piece is stamped “Wilkinson & Son, 8 Old Bond Street” and “1787”, and the lock is marked as being by Tucker & Reeves, both excellent 19th century makers. This will continue to make a great storage option as a wine or bottle cooler.
Dating to the 19th century, this is made of oak and is lead lined, originating from London, England.
In good age related condition, this has a working lock and the key is available. Be aware that the lead lining means that it would be unwise to expose children to the interior or to store unpackaged food inside.
