All original Morris and Company, Sussex rush seated chair with ebonised oak frame and diagonal patterned rush seat.
Possibly designed by Ford Madox Brown for William Morris in the early 1870’s before the company became just William Morris in the year 1874.
More than likely a predecessor to a similar chair released later in the 1880’s Morris & Co. Liberty London chair under the style name of ‘Argyll Suite’.
In good condition with some overall age related wear.

Dated as late 19th century, circa 1870.
Made from Oak & Rush.
