This bold and exceptionally good quality cabinet stands on a shaped, inlaid plinth base. It has a central single door with an oval porcelain plaque to the centre, hand painted with a young couple, framed by ormolu swags and ribbons. Either side are glazed doors with a pair of shelves in each for display. There are four inlaid, ormolu mounted columns distributed around the doors. the top has a well inlaid concave frieze. Massive mirror back with full length columns matching those to the base with rounded top surmounted by a cast portrait of a lady in ormolu. Dating from around 1860 and made using the best materials this is a remarkable piece of Victorian furniture in terms of scale and quality. Offered in very good “as found” condition.
