This beautiful quality cabinet on chest is decorated in red lacquer chinoiserie and is in the George I style, although it dates to the 1950s. It separates into two sections, an upper cupboard containing three adjustable shelves above three graduated drawers. The cupboard has a swan neck cornice with a lovely turned finial, extensive gilded and lacquered decoration, both externally and inside the doors, and arched bevelled mirrors to the front. The landscape scenes with figures on the doors and drawer fronts are in relief, whilst there are extensive finely painted blossoming trees, birds and patterns elsewhere. This is a wonderful piece which will grace any home, providing much needed storage in a stunning package.
Dating to the 1950s, this is made of lacquered oak and originates from England.
In good age related condition. A key is available and the locks are in working order.
