A well decorated pair of 19th century French Empire candlesticks. These candlesticks were made to celebrate the second French empire. The second French Empire, officially the French Empire (French: Empire Français), was the regime of Napoleon III from 1852 to 1870, between the Second Republic and the Third Republic in France.
These candlesticks have a detachable nozzle which sits on a banded sconce with the stem tapering down to an unusually low shoulder. The cylindrical body is beautifully decorated with a scrolling rosette on both sides. The piece has some lovely embossed fruit and berries going around the entire well, finishing off with a graduated base. These are an unusual and decorative pair of candlesticks that would enhance any setting. Circa 1855
