A good Qing Dynasty Bronze censer. A censer is a vessel made for burning incense or perfume. They vary greatly in size, form, and material of construction, and have been in use since ancient times throughout the world. This particular example is from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Decorated with large god-like characters on either side set against a backdrop of clouds and mountains. On the rim can be seen (although somewhat faded ) small circular symbols. The burner has been nicely cast and stands on three feet . There is a good clean Xuande mark to the base.
