A fine quality 19th century mahogany cheval mirror mounted with attractive finials upon turned supports incorporating carved spiral twists at the top over block octagonal sections, and united by a ring turned stretcher. The bevelled mirror is arched in shape and set in a rectangular frame which has attractive relief decoration at the top corners and serrated bottom corner pieces. At the level of the pivot, the bevelling of the original mirror shadows the carved shape of the frame. Foxing to the plate provides the charming, distressed effect associated with an original antique mirror. It is just over 1.3 metres in height, making it a nice size for a bedroom without overwhelming the space.
Dating to circa 1835, this is made of mahogany and glass, and originates from England.
In good age related condition, this has some characterful foxing to the original mirror which is consistent with 200 years of use.
