An Expressive 17th century bronze doorplate cast and chased in the form of a grotesque. Hinge on top fitted at a later date,this heavy cast would have been attached flat on a large door, separate knocker would have been stuck inside mouth. Provenance Harry Anderson Astlett, American collector circa 1880. This piece is Italian probably from he north of the country.
