A beautiful mahogany secretaire, this Georgian piece presents as a chest of drawers and has a drop front to the top, revealing a selection of delicate drawers with a central cupboard, a pretty inlaid design and elegantly shaped section tops. The sturdy brass hinges at the sides are solidly designed and support the drop front. Designed as a writing desk, this will also make a wonderful dressing table with storage for a bedroom. The piece has inlaid Greek key design banding around the top and bottom, stringing inlay with veneers on the top and a beautifully carved apron with flared legs either side. The mahogany is a lovely colour and the piece has a beautiful patina. The three drawers below the bureau section are graduated and lined with old blue paper.
Dating to circa 1800, this is made of mahogany and originates from the UK.
In good age related condition, with only the expected wear expected from use over more than 200 years. No key is available, but the locks are present.
