A lovely mid century design of drop-leaf gateleg teak dining table by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen and produced by France & Son in Denmark. It has a very attractive Scandinavian modern appearance frame with five stretchered panels, one at the centre and two at each end which fan on unusual brass hinges to support the table leaves. Brass brackets are present at each end of the central leg base section supporting the main part of the table.
This table is a good size for a family meal and is a particularly attractive shape for a mid century interior, but will fit into a contemporary home very well. It will sit well as a console table when the leaves are folded down.
This table has been well used and has scratches and dents consistent with regular family use, although these are not deep.
The table is mid 20th century, circa 1950s, and made of teak. It originates from Denmark.
