Black and brass formica coffee table dated to the mid 20th century. Displaying a printed surface with brass feet on peg style legs and rounded corners.
The laminate pattern design ‘Alexandretta’ is by the renowned textiles and pattern designer Jaqueline Groag. Based on Groag’s own collection of dolls.
Groag’s designs are colourful and abstract having also been part of leading industries in the 20th century. Some examples are Chanel, Liberty of London, John Lewis as well as having been hired later in the 1970s to design the seating for London Transport, becoming a part of daily life on British buses and tube trains.
In good condition with some signs of age related wear overall with a slight imperfection in the top surface as shown. The legs can be unscrewed for easier transport.
