A beautiful quality piece, this large stool has six reeded and turned tapering mahogany legs on brass castors and a lovely chestnut brown buttoned cushion which has a great polished shine to it and large upholstery tack heads around the border. The delicacy of the legs, the height of the seat, and the movement of the castors all mean that this is perhaps more a decorative piece than meant for heavyweight regular seating, but this will make a splendid surface for light use and for leaving items on temporarily, perhaps to sit at the end of a bed for cushions, or in a large hallway for bags.
Dating to circa 1900, this is made of leather and mahogany, and originates from England.
In good age related condition, with the light wear expected from use, the decorative part of a couple of the buttons has degraded, but this is not easily visible and does not affect the structure of the dimpling. There is some light, surface cracking to the leather, but this is characterful for its age and there are no rips or deep cracks.
