A pretty French mirror from the mid 19th century, this has an ornate gilded soft wood frame and is a useful size.
– Ornate carved gilded frame with curlicue decoration.
– Slightly asymmetrical frame, showing the hand carved character of the piece.
– Wooden back.
– Characterful and desirable spotting to the mirror plate.
– Red tone beneath the gilding.
This will make a wonderful boudoir mirror and will suit a luxuriant style in a bedroom, but it might also work well in a hallway as a statement piece.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There are some minor signs of old woodworm, which is no longer live, on one side of the frame. The mirror plate has some deslivering, indicative of its age and providing desirable character to the piece, but it still provides a good reflection.
