An early 19th century Chinese pottery dog of Fu. This example has damage to one of its ears and to the back otherwise it’s a nice little piece and has some great patina and hand painted decoration to it. This gives it a fantastic look. A Fu or Foo dog is a Chinese protection symbol of feng shui that typically “guard” the entrance ways to buildings and homes. Ironically, they don’t actually depict dogs, but rather lions. Perfect for a new home.
