A set of 8 dining chairs in the classic Gustavian style which originates from the Lindome region of Sweden. They date to the late 19th or early 20th century and have a cream painted finish, with stripped slip seats ready for upholstering. The turned and fluted legs have an ‘H’ stretcher and flower carvings at the the top fronts, while the back splat has the stylised sheaf pattern seen in these types of chairs with a foliate design in the centre.
The light colour and elegant design of these chairs will make them a lovely addition to any style of home, suitable for both contemporary and period interiors. The size of the set means that they can be used for a large dining arrangement and would allow for additional matching seating to be brought into use for an extending dining table.
The paint is worn and the joinery joints beneath are visible in places (for instance, where the curved tops of the backs have been joined to to the uprights). The seat pads have been stripped back and are ready for upholstery. Seven of the chairs sit solidly, but one has a slight wobble due to unequal leg lengths rather than loose joints.
These date to the late 19th to early 20th century and are made of painted beech & upholstery. They originate as Scandinavian.
