A fantastic 19th century Chinese export silver mug. This beautiful silver mug is from the Canton region of China – circa 1840-1870. Made by the legendary Khe Cheong at his silversmiths in Canton, this lovely piece has intricate repousse work and chasing. The images depicted in the foreground are of warriors and their mounts along with fighting / hunting dogs. The faces are covered suggesting they are at battle. Pagodas and house can be seen in the background with a clean cartouche centred to the top of the scene. The handle is in the form of a dragon attached to the body of the mug by its feet. Gilded interior with silversmiths mark to the base. This is a wonderful item and is the best example of Chinese silver in stock at the moment. A simply stunning piece of craftsmanship.
