A good large Georgian silver ladle with hallmarks for London 1825. This ladle has a large bowl with an elongated handle which finishes with the classic oar style. Engraved onto the spoon is a possible Scottish crest of a hand holding a sword on top of a crown , which would strongly suggest connections with the British Royal Family. This type of crest or ones very much like it were common during the Georgian and Victorian periods. The period in which this spoon was assayed ( hallmarked as silver ) would cover the reign of George III.This particular type of silver ladle became popular in Georgian times, due to the increasing fashionability of dinner parties. This classic piece of dining history would give any mealtime an added touch of quality.
