A beautiful 19th century walnut sewing table, this has a lovely quartered figured walnut veneer with a fine central inlaid decorative design and contrasting burr walnut edging with stringing around. Inside, there is a fretwork central cover which lifts up to reveal the central well lined in an attractive paper, with another fretwork cover to the left section. The front sections contain three lift out green velvet pieces; a pin cushion, a thimble rest and a small needle case with pink felt lining. The sections mainly have lift out separators, so that their sizes can be altered. The legs are turned and have some lovely carving at the tops and are finished with brown ceramic castors. This is a gorgeous antique piece which continues to work well for its original function and will delight anyone who sews for a hobby.
Dating to the 19th century, this is made of walnut and originates from the UK.
In good age related condition, this has the wear expected for a 19th century piece, with some marks surrounding the inlay area which are noticeable, but not obtrusive. No key is available and although the lock is present, one of the insertion pins is broken.
