This striking piece of 18th century furniture was obtained from a Derbyshire estate and is made from a section of an oak tree trunk. It has been used as a chopping block, with a scarred top, and is blackened with age. Stable on its tripod base, it will make a fabulous small table and will look great in an old pub or restaurant.
– Iron binding strip around block.
– Tripod base, making it stable on an uneven surface.
– Heavy and sturdy.
– Characterful splits and gnarls, with the top marked from chopping.
In good sturdy, stable condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There is some damage from old woodworm at the feet.
