A fabulously carved padouk centre table of important and unusual size, this early 19th century piece has a wealth of detail on the base and the border of the top. It will look stunning as a focal point to a large room or reception hall.
– Pedestal base with four scrolling feet.
– Exquisitely carved, with a mythical beast resembling a dragon on each foot and a central fruit similar to a pineapple.
– Decorated throughout with birds, fruits, flowers and leaves.
– Unusually large size.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There are a small number of very minor chips to the carving which are unobtrusive. There is a tilt-top mechanism which is not in full working order and does not support the top in an upstanding position.
