A fascinating Georgian timepiece, this displays interesting information about 18th century Devon and Cornwall, with engravings showing details relevant to tin mining and sailing. Edward Goldsworthy was a skilled clockmaker who started work in Exeter, moving to London in 1802. This clock will make a superb addition to any home.
– Square silver plated dial.
– Engraved with pump house, sailing ship and flowers.
– Mahogany case is high quality rather than provincial, perhaps being made after Goldsworthy’s move to London, or perhaps being associated at a later date.
– Lovely colour to the case.
– Fine fretwork on the hood, with carved rosettes at the top of the swan neck pediment.
– 8 day movement, with bell striking on the hour.
