An unusual and lovely quality piece of furniture, this American rush seated armchair dates to the mid 19th century and has some beautiful decorative features.
– Attractive carved and pierced crest rail with foliate design.
– Unusual shaped spindles below the arms extend laterally to provide a larger and more comfortable seat area.
– Iron hook and eye fastening below the seat to keep it in place.
– Slipper shaped feet.
– Beautiful colour and patina to the wood.
– Lovely shape to the arms, with tactile raised teardrop shaped pads at the ends.
In good condition. There is some fading in colour to the crest and the tops of the spindles at the back, which may be sunlight bleaching. The rush seat is in good condition.
