A great piece of 19th century French oak furniture, the characterful carving includes foxes at the base. It has been bleached to provide the light colour which will complement a modern interior, and it will make a lovely country house dining or breakfast table.
– Planked circular top with carved edge border.
– Central support pillar with 4 extending legs, each with a fox head carving.
– Feet reminiscent of paws, these types of carvings on French tables often related to hunting in the forest.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. The top has a slightly opened planking gap at the centre and there are signs of historical woodworm on the base supports and legs. Modern bolts have been used to secure the supports underneath the top.
