A fabulous Elizabethan carved depiction of Charity, this polychrome oak figure is nearly a metre in height and is likely to have originally been a newel post built into a staircase. It is an important late Tudor antique which has survived in lovely condition. It will make a wonderful decorative focal point for any room.

– Mother depicted with two children, in a traditional display of benevolent charity.
– Retaining original polychrome paint in the blue and red of the dress and the skin tones of the flesh.
– Large, circular gadrooned base.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. Retains original paint.
