A fabulous pair of large toleware candelabra, these were made at the beginning of the 20th century in an 18th century style. Standing a total of 1.76 metres in height on the later pedestals, these will look spectacular in a large room with all the candles lit, evoking in the imagination an 18th century ball by candlelight.
– Toleware, with remains of red paint inside sconces and white paint on external surfaces.
– 13 candle holders on each candelabrum.
– All arms and sconces separately removable.
– Sconces in the shape of cupped leaves, with foliate stems to the arms.
– Heavy, weighted bases to give stability.
– Panelled wooden plinths, later in date, painted in a light green.
– Original painted pine packing box available, with slots to hold the arms.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. One of the candelabrum bases has a slight wobble, but the heavy weight ensures stability.
