A beautifully simple, classic piece of well made bentwood furniture, this bears the Thonet mark beneath the seat. Thonet pioneered the production of bentwood furniture, setting up a factory in the Czech Republic in 1857 after moving to Austria in his 50s.
– Bentwood oval stretcher connects the length, with a central support across the depth of the seat at the centre.
– Lovely colour to the caning.
– Circular Thonet mark at the back of the frame, beneath the seat.
– Front legs turned at the top.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. The rattan is in good condition.
