This piece is definitely one for the collectors. A very nice example of a rare compact by John William Barrett of Birmingham. The top of the piece is in a cream enamel which is in very good condition and covered by a multitude of colourful Naval Signal Flags. Each flag has its corresponding letter next to it. The flags can be used to spell out different words with some having additional meanings when used alone or in combination with other flags. The inside has its original mirror and is hallmarked for 1953. The piece is in lovely condition although there is some slight wear to small parts of the interior. A superb piece!
