A lovely set of late 18th century Welsh oak chairs, these have a simplicity which will make them a fabulous addition to either a dining room or kitchen, to complement a room furnished with a Georgian oak dresser or a country table.
– Flat seats made with a single piece of oak.
– Pierced and shaped splats, with a heart design at the top.
– Square stretchers.
– Square section legs, with the fronts slightly tapered and the backs slightly flared.
– Beautiful patina and deep colour.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. Three of the seats have repaired splits across them, but these are unobtrusive and stable. The joints with the legs at the back of the seats are missing small cosmetic fill pieces on four chairs, which does not affect them structurally. There is some minor damage to the lower right extremity of one splat carving.
