A charming decorative piece, this finely carved early 18th century gentleman will look lovely sitting on a mantlepiece or a display surface, particularly in a Georgian home.
– Carved from a single, solid piece of walnut.
– Traces of old gilding.
– Finely carved detail, with clothes of the time, including wig, feathered hat and lovely folds to the coat.
– Standing to the front of a good sized base, giving it a stable standing position.
– Carved nicely all around, so that it could be placed in front of a mirror, or in a central location for 360 degree viewing.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. The right wrist has been restored, but this is unobtrusive and nicely done. There is also a checking crack to the folds of the skirt at the back.
