A magnificent 19th century glazed bookcase from the period of Napoleon III, this piece is of exceptional quality. In line with French practice of the time, it is designed to be dismantled to allow easy transport and installation. With five adjustable shelves on saw tooth brackets, it has three drawers at the bottom, two short and lockable over one longer. The ormolu decoration includes egg and dart borders, along with leaf pattern surrounds on the doors and an ornamented broken top pediment. The lock for the doors is a quality vertical mechanism with a full length brass backing plate. This splendid piece will make a wonderful addition to any period interior.
Dating to circa 1860, this is made of mahogany and originates from France.
