Norwegian peg tankard c 1750, body turned in fine figured burr birch showing peg holes to interior. Handle and lid pegged on making construction of three pieces. Depicting carved wood decoration in relief carved hunting scenes and boar to thumb lift. Exaggerated dome lid of typical form showing impressive pole lathe turning detail to underside of both lid, tankard body and interior, incised work and carved detail to handle. The whole standing on three elaborately carved feet. Initials ISSK carved to underside. Stunning wobble to rim. Excellent colour and patination.
