A pleasing pair of heavy 19th century oak hall chairs, these have been attractively carved and a have a deep, honey colour. With wide seats, they will provide a comfortable seat in a larger hall area.
– Carved backs with a feline head at the centre, below which is the latin motto “Pro Rege Et Republica”.
– Finely carved leaves along the back, with fretwork patterning below, backed with an oak panel.
– Very heavy, solid chairs.
– Galleried central stretcher, with turned side supports and lower finials.
– Solid, quality pieces with skilled craftsmanship in the carving.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There are tiny breakages at the ends of one of the motto pieces, which are not easily noticeable.
