A splendid 19th century oak lambing chair, this is a substantial piece with a good size seat and a great storage drawer underneath. It will make a cosy place to nestle by the fire, with the wings keeping draughts away.
Lambing chairs originate from the sheep farming regions of Northern England and are said to have been for shepherds to use while the lambing was underway, with the drawer underneath for warming newborns.
